# How to Buy Off-Plan Property in Dubai
Buying off-plan in Dubai is straightforward once you know the steps. Here is the full process from research to handover.
## Step 1: Set Your Budget and Goal
Decide whether you are buying to live in, to resell before handover, or to hold for rental yield. This shapes the area, unit type, and payment plan you should target.
## Step 2: Choose a Reputable Developer
Check the developer's delivery history, past project quality, and whether the project is registered with the DLD. A strong track record lowers your construction-timeline risk.
## Step 3: Reserve the Unit
You pay a reservation deposit (often 5–10%) and sign a reservation form to lock the price and unit.
## Step 4: Sign the SPA
The Sales & Purchase Agreement sets the price, payment schedule, handover date, and penalties for delay. Read the completion clauses carefully.
## Step 5: DLD Registration (Oqood)
The developer registers your purchase on the DLD Oqood system, giving you a legal interim title until completion.
## Step 6: Follow the Payment Plan
You pay installments tied to construction milestones. Funds are held in a RERA escrow account, released to the developer only as building progresses.
## Step 7: Handover
On completion you complete final payment, inspect the unit (snagging), and receive the title deed — or resell before handover if that was your plan.
